Dick Rossi Commemorative Covers

(Covers come with a 'certificate of authenticity')

These commemorative cachet envelopes feature a special event postal cancellation for the Sandical Stamp Show and Philatelic Exhibition. The three-day show started on February 7, 2003, and featured a special post office, which used the Flying Tiger cancellation on all outgoing mail. The cancellation was kept for thirty days, after which it was destroyed, making the Flying Tiger cancellation limited and unique. Postal cancellations are usually not hand painted, making these cachet envelopes unique as well. Each stamp features the US Postal stamp of General Claire Chennault, founder of the Flying Tigers. John R. “Dick” Rossi, P-40 Ace from the American Volunteer Group, flew three different aircraft, numbers 3, 5, and 18. Dick Rossi is a member of the Rogues Gallery. Flying Tiger Ace Dick Rossi, artist John R. Doughty, Jr., and the cancellation designer Mark Kirby, signed each envelope.
