| “‘Star Quest, the Regency Wars’, is a tale of waring factions, struggling to gain control over a galaxy decimated by a deadly viral disaster. Fast, strategic, political, and tactical, the game focuses on five races and their efforts to conquer and rule one another’s Regencies.” “Star Quest, The Regency Wars”, is a science fiction collectible card game designed by Glenn Alpaugh and John Doughty, who formed “White Buffalo Games” in 1994, and produced by Comic Images. The initial card game features 325 different cards, manufactured in both English and German. The game features artwork created by noted science fiction and fantasy artists like Frank Frazetta, the Hildebrandt Brothers, Michael Whelan, William Stout, and Luis Royo. In 1995, a 100-card expansion pack was planned, and card number 413 was called “The Gypsy Freighter”. John Doughty was given the opportunity to create this piece of artwork for the game. This particular card, when played in the game, was designed to allow the owner of the Gypsy Freighter to “borrow” two cards from an opponent, and use them to strengthen his attack against an opponent. The 100-card expansion set was never produced due to market downturn. |
