| Captain Clinton Dewitt Burdick flew P-51D Mustang (specifications) QI-B (415310), “DoDo”, when he was assigned to the 361st Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group, 8th USAAF, at Martlesham, England. He was one of only five aerial Aces with the 356th Fighter Group, with 5.5 air-to-air victories, and his father was an Ace in World War I with 8 air-to-air victories. He flew 53 combat missions. | ||

| 1. Penciled in P-51D Mustang. Painted insignia on the fuselage, and completed cockpit. Painted black on wheels and props and red on tail, propeller spinner and cowling for the 361st Fighter Sq. Painted in blue stripes on spinner and blue diamond pattern on the cowling. | 2. Painted in aluminum color on the fuselage, added highlights, shadows, and panel lines. Added invasion stripes, QI-B, 415310 on tail, victory symbols on canopy railing, and “DoDo” to cowling. finished by adding an exhaust stain down side of the fuselage. |
| 3. Once the P-51 was completed, I drew in pencil the insignia for the 361st Fighter Squadron. After painting in the insignia, I signed the painting. Captain Burdick then signed the painting on May 23, 2004. | |
