insignia for 355th Fighter Squadron,
known as the “Pugnacious Pups”.
Completed painting insignia and
covered it with paper to protect it
while I worked on the P-51 Mustang.
2. Penciled the P-51, and then painted the
black for wheels and prop blades.
Worked on cockpit, the white spinner
on the propeller, and white stripe on the
cowling. Painted undersides of fuselage
and wing. Then painted in US insignia.
3. Painted in the green on the fuselage, then added shadows, highlights and panel lines.
Added the GQ-I on the fuselage, and then the invasion stripes on the fuselage and
wing. Next was the white stripe on the tail, followed by the tail code number.
Painted in “Live Bait” on the cowling, and exhaust stains along the fuselage.
Signed the painting, and Captain Gross signed the painting on March 21, 2004.
