1. Line drawings of logo and P-40 on 8” x 10”
masonite. Painted in the Flying Tiger logo,
then covered it with paper to protect it while
painting the aircraft. Since red and black were used
on the logo, continued with those colors on the aircraft,
primarily painting the shark teeth, wheels, and propeller.
Then started the basic green camouflage on the aircraft.

2. Added highlights, shadows, and
panel lines to the green camouflage.
Then painted the underside light gray and added
panel lines and flaps on the wings.
Added the red stripe for Flying Tiger
group number 3, and
three air-to-air victory symbols.

3. Added brown camouflage paint to aircraft, including highlights, shadows, and panel lines.
Added Flying Tiger logo on the side of the aircraft, then number 80.
Finished the painting by adding exhaust stains and battle wear to airplane.
Painting was signed by the artist and Flight Leader Robert “Catfish” Raine.
