"F-4U Corsair - Study 1" |
F4-U Corsair number 42 (specifications), was flown by Lt. Colonel Jerry Coleman, born on September 14, 1924 in San Jose, California. He served as a Marine Corps pilot in both World War II and the Korean War. He flew 120 missions while he was assigned to VMSB-341, VMA-251, and VMF-323. He received two Distinguished Flying Crosses, thirteen Air medal, and three Navy Citations. He was also the second baseman for the New York Yankees from 1949 to 1957. He was Rookie of the Year in 1949, and was an All Star in 1950. He was also the MVP of the 1950 World Series. He played in six World Series, won four World Series with the New York Yankees, and had a .263 lifetime batting average. He currently is the radio voice of the San Diego Padres baseball team, and is famous for his phrase, "Oh doctor, you can hang star on that baby!” |

| 1. Line drawing of the aircraft and the squadron logo for VMA-323, the “Death Rattlers” on masonite board. Finished the squadron logo. | 2. I completed the landing gear and propeller. Then painted in the fuselage, fuel tank, and added in the panel lines and WS on the tail. |
3. I finished the details and added the non-reflective paint on top of the cowling. | |
