A-4 Skyhawk Specifications

The McDonnell Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was produced for eight nations besides the United States. Built as a lightweight, high-speed attack bomber, it was nicknamed “Heinemann’s Hot Rod”, after the designer, Ed Heinemann. The A-4M was specifically manufactured for the United States Marine Corps, and the first A-4M prototype flew on April 10, 1970. One of the famous squadrons to fly the A-4M Skyhawk is the Blacksheep of VMA-214, as seen in the photo above. VMA-214 transitioned from the A-4M to the AV-8B Harrier jump jet.
